I chose a bathhouse in my hometown to COLLECT and COMPREHEND the behaviour of user groups. ( The work could be based in Winchester or Southampton, I have returned to China.) At last, I used Personas, user journey maps, and use cases to simplify my research.

“A VERY AFFORDABLE WAY TO AGAINST THE COLD…”


BACKGROUND & WHY I CHOOSE BATHHOUSE
- Dalian has about 1700 bathhouses. In the cold weather, It is warm and clean and the services offered here are much more abundant, which become a place where people gather. It’s kind of like a hot spring in the UK.
- Usually, people stay in the bathhouse for 4 to 5 hours, from check-in to check out to move nearly 20 places.
- Due to the long-term low temperature, people usually take a bath once a week. There are many steps in a bath, soaking in a hot tub, steaming in a sauna and rubbing off the dead skin.


COLLECTING
ONLINE REVIEWS
- Before this Project, I probably know what people do in Bathhouse, but it is not in-depth. I have never been to this bathhouse before. To understand quickly, I searched its latest online reviews.
- In the reviews, users talked about the number of bathing people, the time waiting for body scrub, the water quality, the staff service attitude, the environment, the restaurant, the price, the children’s play centre, the parking… Users generally wrote about the experience of bathing very well, and the environment was clean.
- But when evaluating the service attitude of staff, the user’s experience was different.

ARE THEY RELIABLE?
I thought online reviews are convincing because most of the comments had lots of rich detail and can see some bad reviews. I collected the words that appeared in high -frequency in the reviews, and they would be the focus of observation later.

Quantitative Research
- An online survey was conducted to obtain insights from users. The survey included basic information about the user and his or her answers to the bathhouse. I received 102 responses in total.

Qualitative Research
- After quantitative research, I interviewed around 5 frequent users individually. And asked them 8 questions about their feelings and thoughts. Then add some details to Persona.
